Argentine Coach Jorge Almirón Named New Rosario Central Manager

Buenos Aires, December 15 (NA) — Argentine coach Jorge Almirón has become the new manager of Rosario Central. This decision was made by the club's board after the departure of Ariel Holan, with whom it was decided to terminate the contract in recent days.

The Rosario club made it official on its social media, betting on an experienced coach with a vast background in Argentine and South American football to tackle the upcoming season, where the team will play in the Copa Libertadores.

According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), the decision was taken after several internal meetings in which the board evaluated different profiles to replace Holan, whose cycle ended with the win in the League Cup (winner of the Annual Table) and a defeat in the round of 16 of the Clausura Tournament.

Finally, Almirón's name generated the most consensus, both for his career and his playing style, which is oriented towards intense and proactive teams.

Almirón's last coaching position was at Colo-Colo in Chile. Previously, the coach had notable spells at clubs such as Lanús, Defensa y Justicia, Independiente, and Boca, where he even reached a Copa Libertadores final.

At the Chilean club, he had led 83 matches, winning the Chilean tournament, the Super Cup, and reaching the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores, but after negative results in his last period, he left the institution.

At Rosario Central, Almirón will face the challenge of building a squad that comes off a great semester and will try to compete for the 'Eternal Glory' next year. The board's idea is for the new technical staff to begin working as soon as possible on the preseason planning, with the objective of positioning the 'Canalla' as a competitive team on all fronts.
